What is Miko Rhythm?

A four-lane arrow rhythm game with a cute-goth heart. Hit notes on a neon 3D highway or a Classic flat view while Miko, your cat-eared host, dances, cheers and roasts your misses.

Yes. Keyboard, controller and USB dance pad are all supported and fully rebindable. See Controls.

The timing feels off. What do I do?

Auto-Sync adjusts your timing after each song. If it still feels wrong, run Calibration from the home menu (about 20 seconds). See Troubleshooting.

Can I fail?

Yes: if your life bar empties, the song fails. Practice Mode can't fail you.

Are my saves backed up?

Yes. Your save syncs with Steam Cloud, and the game keeps a backup copy locally. You can also export and import your save in Settings > Controls.

Can I stream it?

Turn on Streamer mode (Settings > Profile & Streaming). It shows only songs marked STREAM-SAFE, the ones the developers made themselves, and hides explicit titles.

Read the full FAQ
Are there explicit songs?

A few song titles contain explicit language. Hide explicit songs is on by default, and Streamer mode always hides them. Miko's own dialogue is all-ages.

Is this related to Miko Radio?

Yes. Miko is also the mascot of Miko Radio, our Discord music bot in 19,900+ servers.

Quick fixes

Timing feels off

Notes feel late or early compared with the music

  1. Play two or three songs normally first. Auto-Sync (on by default) adjusts the offset by up to 25 ms after each finished song. It doesn't learn from failed runs, speed changes, Hidden or Sudden.
  2. Still off? Run Calibration from the home menu: tap with the clicks, then with the moving arrow, then Apply. If it says Not enough taps, run it again and tap steadily all the way through.
  3. Fine-tune by hand in Settings > Audio: Audio offset for sound delay, Visual offset for picture delay. See Settings.

I use Bluetooth or wireless headphones Wireless audio adds a lot of delay, often 100 ms or more, and it can vary. The calibration card tells you when your device looks wireless. Calibrate with the headphones on, or use wired audio for the tightest feel.

I play on a TV Turn on your TV's Game mode, then calibrate. If the picture still lags, adjust Visual offset.

Timing drifts during long sessions Check that the game isn't dropping frames (next section). Background apps that use a lot of CPU can delay audio.

Performance and low settings

If the game stutters or runs slowly, change these in Settings > Video, roughly in this order:

  1. Effects quality: Reduced
  2. 3D resolution scale: 75% or 50%
  3. Miko style: 2D (lightweight), or turn off Hair and clothes / Body physics. The game may offer this switch itself if Miko is slowing things down.
  4. Visual style: Classic Miko (flat lanes, lighter than the 3D highway)
  5. Stage: Off, and turn off Illustrated menus
  6. Frame-rate cap: 60

Minimum spec is integrated graphics with WebGL 2 in 2D Miko mode. For full 3D Miko at 1080p we recommend a GTX 1060 / RX 580 or better. Update your graphics driver if the game won't start or shows a launch error. The error screen has a Retry button.

Controller or dance pad not detected
  1. Plug it in before opening Settings, then press any button. Browsers and Electron only report a controller after its first input.
  2. Look in Settings > Controls > Controller / Dance Pad. It shows "No controller detected" until a button press arrives.
  3. Try a different USB port, and unplug other controllers or adapters.
  4. Steam Input: if Steam remaps your controller in a way that confuses the game, toggle Steam Input for Miko Rhythm in the game's Steam Properties > Controller settings.
  5. Dance pad arrows mixed up? Rebind each lane in Controller / Dance Pad. The game accepts any button or axis direction.
  6. Lanes "stick"? A pad that disconnects releases its held lanes automatically. If an analog stick drifts, rebind the lanes to the D-pad or buttons only.

Saves and Steam Cloud
  • Your progress (scores, unlocks, achievements, settings, bindings, calibration) lives in one save file with a backup next to it, in %APPDATA%\miko-rhythm-steam\saves\ (save.json and save.backup.json). Steam Cloud syncs these files.
  • Moving to another PC: sign in to Steam and launch the game, and Steam Cloud brings the save along. To be extra safe, use Settings > Controls > Export save on the old PC and Import and merge save on the new one.
  • Import and merge keeps the best of both: highest scores and counters, earliest achievement dates, and all unlocks. Importing the same file twice changes nothing. Files from a newer game version are rejected.
  • Steam says there's a cloud conflict: pick the copy with the most recent play. If you're unsure, export the local save first, then choose the cloud copy and import your export to merge.
  • "Reset all settings" resets settings only. Scores and your profile stay.

Achievements
  • Achievements unlock in the game first and are then sent to Steam. If Steam was offline or not running, the game sends them again the next time it starts.
  • Many counters use ranked runs only (1× speed, no Hidden/Sudden, not Practice, not custom songs). See Achievements.
  • Around the Arcade needs every built-in song cleared. Use the song list's Grade/Clear status sort to find the ones left.
  • Still missing one? Restart the game while Steam is running, then check the in-game Achievements screen for progress.

Songs missing from the list
  • Streamer mode hides every song not marked STREAM-SAFE.
  • Hide explicit songs (on by default) hides explicit titles.
  • Your own charts are under My Songs.
